Expert Hip Care for a More Active Life

Whether you’re jogging on the treadmill or dancing to your favorite song, your hips support every move you make. When the things that once came easily start to become painful or uncomfortable, turn to us. As a trusted destination for total hip replacements and other treatment options, we’ll help you find relief, so you can get back to the life you love.

Hip Pain

A sudden pain in your hip or an ache when you walk can be a sign that your joints need some extra care and attention. Your team of experienced orthopedic hip specialists is equipped with the latest diagnostic technology that helps us find the root cause of your hip pain and build a treatment plan that works best for you.

Everyone feels pain differently, but there are some common signs that you may need treatment, including:

  • Difficulty Walking, Bending or Climbing Stairs
  • Grating or Crunching Feeling While Moving
  • Negative Side Effects From Hip Medications
  • Persistent Pain, Even After Pain Medication or Physical Therapy
  • Soreness While Resting
  • Stiffness in Hips

Whatever your symptoms, you’ve got a whole team by your side. We believe that your care should look after every part of you, which is why we aim to guide you at each turn with helpful education and resources. From nutritional advice to weight-loss motivation and support, your whole-person wellness is our priority.

Hip Repair and Replacement

Hip surgery can help you find mobility, comfort and stability at any age. As you move through life, your hip joints can wear down and start feeling painful. When that pain holds you back from doing the things you love, a hip repair or replacement surgery might be the right choice for you. With an expert team by your side and a dedicated Care Coordinator to manage the details, you’ll always find the support you need. Surgeries we offer include:

  • Hemi (partial) hip replacement (Hemiarthroplasty)
  • Hip resurfacing
  • Total hip replacement (Arthroplasty)

To help you recover faster and with less scarring, our surgeons use minimally invasive hip surgery and an anterior approach whenever possible. This lowers your risk of complications and infection by using smaller incisions made on the front of your hip rather than the side, meaning fewer muscles are affected. U.S. News & World Report recognized our institute as a leading provider of hip replacement surgery in the Central Florida region.

Our network of care is also equipped with the Mako® Robotic-Arm Assisted Surgery System. This advanced technology helps us place your prosthesis (implant) with greater accuracy, which can help it last longer, lower your risk of dislocation and get you up and moving faster. We know you want to get back to your normal routine as soon as possible — you may even be able to walk again on the same day as your surgery.

Conditions We Treat

Running, walking or even just sitting down, your hips do a lot for you. They need the best possible care. Our orthopedic specialists have substantial experience and expertise in treating a wide range of hip conditions, including:

  • Acetabular fractures (hip fractures)
  • Arthritis, including Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis
  • Bone infections (Osteomyelitis)
  • Chronic pain
  • Dislocations
  • Hip deformities
  • Hip joint tumors
  • Infections
  • Malunion (fractures that heal incorrectly)
  • Nonunion (fractures that heal incompletely)
  • Sprains
  • Tendonitis

Over time, your joints can wear down and become stiff and sore. This can often lead to arthritis and other wear-and-tear conditions. To help you live an active life with less pain and more movement, your team will work closely with you to tailor a care plan to your needs. This may include everything from medication and nutritional guidance to self-care methods for stress relief, like breathing exercises and meditation. We know that hip pain hurts more than just your hips. Trust us to care for every part of you.

Fracture Care and Trauma

You might think of a hip fracture (acetabular fracture) as something that only happens later in life. But a fall, car accident or condition that weakens your bones can lead to this injury at any age. Help is here: Within our network, experienced trauma specialists have the knowledge and skills needed to care for rare and complex fractures. Signs that you may have a hip fracture include:

  • Being unable to stand or put weight on your hip
  • Bruising, swelling, and stiffness in your hip
  • Muscle spasms
  • One leg turning outward or appearing shorter
  • Severe pain

To restore your mobility and resolve your pain, your orthopedic team may recommend a surgical procedure like a hip replacement. We use minimally invasive techniques whenever possible, helping you get home quicker after your procedure. Your recovery will also be supported by our expert physical therapists. No matter what, you’ll find guidance, education and compassion from day one.

Rehabilitation

As your hip heals following surgery or other treatment, know that you’ll have an experienced team by your side. We offer direct access to physical therapy, so you won’t need to worry about getting a referral from your physician first. (Most insurances accepted for direct access. Please call to confirm.)

Your expert team can include physical therapists, sports medicine specialists, and more, all working to advance your physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. With your whole-person wellness in mind, we offer a comprehensive range of orthopedic rehabilitation services including physical therapy, massage and fitness programs designed to promote healing. Feel like yourself again, sooner.
